Villa Arnica

Built in 1925, Villa Arnica was a guesthouse until the 1980s.
Not just beds with breakfast.

“It was a place filled with life, possibilities, AND ideas.”

Nourished by the artists, actors and creatives who flocked here for the summer from all over Europe. And this spirit never died. Even after the last guest left and the final shutter closed until today. The new family of hoteliers wanted to awaken this spirit and bring together “the nostalgia of Slim Aarons’ era as well as a hint of the Mediterranean coast’s Dolce Vita” as described by Klaus Dissertori, who himself is passionate about design.

ARE YOU SEEING A CHANGE IN CONSUMER’S DESIRE FOR MORE OUTDOOR OR IN TUNE WITH NATURE EXPERIENCES?

Being outside, enjoying fresh air and feeling the freedom to walk around in a relaxing and safe environment…

“brings out a strong sense of nostalgia.”

HOW DOES VILLA ARNICA CONNECT WITH THE NATURAL WORLD?

“We have our own vegetable-garden where we get most of our products from.”

We cook and prepare our dishes with what nature produces and spoil our guests with fresh and seasonal ingredients.

HOW DOES THE LOCAL COMMUNITY PLAY A ROLE AT VILLA ARNICA?

Villa Arnica, a member of Design Hotels, is situated at the heart of Lana. Our sister hotel and awarded restaurant 1477 Reichhalter, which is a hotspot for the local community and is only 300m away from the Villa. We can create beautiful synergies between the two properties. Our guests can immerse in the local happenings, experience the local vibe and enjoy local cuisine and produce in both properties and still find peace and quiet in the Villa.

WHAT IS THE MOST UNDERRATED ELEMENT AT VILLA ARNICA THAT GUESTS SHOULD LOOK OUT FOR?

“Our in-house cuisine holds many surprises.”

Everything we grow in our vegetable garden and orchard is used for jams, spreads, and more and finds its way onto our guests’ plates. At the Villa we only use South Tyrolean products and want to showcase over the next few years the variety of what South Tyrol has to offer from a culinary aspect even more.

DOES THE ARNICA FLOWER PLAY A ROLE AT THE HOTEL ASIDE FROM ITS NAME?

Villa Arnica’s previous owner was strongly connected to our mountains and what nature has to offer on our alpine meadows. He spent lots of time at Vigilius mountain, that can be reached by cable car from Lana.

“He dedicated the name of the Villa to the Arnica flower which has a healing effect.”

This is also the reason why most of our beauty products such as our bath amenities (such as bath salt) or Susanne Kaufmann’s hand soap are based on the Arnica flower.

HOW DO EXPERIENCES AT VILLA ARNICA CHANGE WITH THE SEASONS?

When spring arrives and everything starts to bloom our guests enjoy bike rides through the vast apple orchards. In summer, the main focus lies on our pool and the evening BBQs at the pool-house. While temperatures start to fall in autumn, hiking and outdoor activities become popular again.
